LIBRARY

The library is a central part of our school’s educational programme. The main function of the library is to meet the learning and teaching needs of the school. All students from Prep to Year 6 attend weekly library classes. These library classes include instruction in library skills, literary appreciation and borrowing time. Prep classes visit the library twice a week to ensure the whole class is able to access the library.

The librarian is present in the library on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You will be notified on which day your child needs to bring their library bag in the first  week of school.

All students must have a school library bag in order to borrow books. New students in Prep and Kindy will be supplied with a library bag, but those who are new to the school and entering into Years 1 –6 will need to purchase a library bag at the school office at the cost of $8. These bags then need to be retained for your child’s use throughout their time here at Wahro0nga Adventist School.

Prep to year 2 can borrow up to 3 books, Years 3 –6 up to 5 books. Books have a loan period of 2 weeks. The date stamped on the date due slip is the date it should be returned. Returned books need to be placed in the loading zone at the entrance to the library.

Reminders will be sent home with the student when books are overdue. If a book is misplaced, it is the parents’ and student’s responsibility to look for the book at home and/or at school. Lost books incur a replacement fee of $20 payable at the school office.

Please encourage your child/ren to use the library, and spend time enjoying the books with them at home.
